WATER BAPTISM

Romans 6:4
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Baptism is one of two sacraments endorsed and partaken of by Jesus and those who belonged to the early church.

Baptism an external and physical rite, embedded in divine will, and endorsed by Jesus as a sacred obligation.

Baptism, rich in Heavenly significance, is an outward step that is honored inwardly by the Holy Spirit.

Baptism is a public confession of Faith an action that declares an inward reality.

Water Baptism is not salvation; scripture clearly states something vital must take place in the heart of the person to qualify to be baptized.

Acts 2:38
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Water Baptism is essential and important - as is Repentance and Faith in the Lord Jesus - but does not disqualify from Salvation if not embraced.

Acts 8:36 - 37
(36) And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? (37) And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Roman 10:8 - 11
(8) But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: (9) That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (10) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. (11) As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

A person must be - saved, - regenerated, born again before they can be eligible to be baptized. "There goes infant baptism" - a fruitless activity in itself which has no impact on a child's soul or spirit.

Baptism is the natural and spiritual progression upon one who hears the Good News, believes it in their heart, and embraces the Gospel and confesses that belief.

Baptism is not salvation or entrance into the church.

Baptism is Immersion; the Greek word "Baptizo" means "under water." Jesus, Himself, when speaking of Baptism used the Greek word Baptizo.

Acts 16:33
(33) At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized.

One cannot read about baptism in the word of God and not get their feet wet. Both Phillip and the Eunuch went down into the water to have the Eunuch Baptized (immersed).

Believers should be baptized as soon as possible to the point of their embracing the Gospel and making confession of their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Eunuch believed and was baptized that very hour (Acts 8 vs.38 ). The Philippians Jailer was baptized at "the same hour of the night he believed." This was the early church normal practice. Jesus himself submitted to water baptism.

Luke 3:21
(21) When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too.

Water Baptism is a testimony of Decision for Christ as Lord and Savior and that you are a follower of Him - declaring a Death and a Resurrection to a new life and a new way of living.

Baptism is a symbolic act to show a departure from the old way of life to the entrance to a new way of life.

Water Baptism is a testimony of Separation; Romans 6:4 Buried with Christ by Baptism into death, a burial service hence immersion."

Baptism is the outward indications of a believers inward spiritual and absolute identification with His/Her Savior at the cross death to the old man.

Baptism is a testimony of Resurrection an entrance into a New Life, symbolized by the believer as he/she rises up out from under the water.

Baptism is an outward indication of the believers inward spiritual and absolute embracement of the new life of God and Gods way of living and doing.

The water we baptize in has no virtue in itself, it's just water; nor is it a medium of special authority or blessing. Nevertheless, God has ordained that by the means of this act in water, He would communicate a rich impartation - a divine moment of obedience towards God and His way of doing things.

Water baptism is a command of the Lord and has divine approval.

Matthew 3:16-17
(16) As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. (17) And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

Water Baptism is not negotiable; it is required and commanded and approved of by God himself.

Much is said about the baptism of the Spirit. Some things for me are vital - this being one of them - we must be immersed in the Holy Spirit presence, and we know the tangible countenance of him dwelling within us. For without Him we can do nothing empowered by God.

For some, the baptism of the Spirit is an experience - different from initial salvation. Described as a second experience that gives a person much greater spiritual power and boldness, and the ability to live a more victorious Christian life and is, however, it does not have to be that way.

One can have this encounter with God on the very day of there Salvation; I did. It will be a tangible moment with the Holy Spirit and will bring outward evidence and response from the receiver. In the New Testament - unmistakably in the book of Acts - the results of baptism in the Holy Spirit were such signs as speaking in tongues.

In the Bible, the term "baptism of the Spirit" is used. John the Baptist predicted that Jesus would come and baptize with the Spirit and with fire (Matthew 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16 John 1:33). In Acts 1:5, Jesus recalled John's words, and told His followers that they would be and needed to have the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

The events of the day of Pentecost ten days later seem to be the obvious fulfillment of His words (see Acts Chapter 2). Also in (Acts 11:16) indicates outside the upper room occasion Cornelius, the first Gentile convert, had a same experience after hearing the message and embracing it (point of salvation) this encounter with the Holy Spirit had the very same outward expression as those in the upper room on the day of Pentecost.

While these passages make it clear that the believers in Acts 2 experienced a baptism of the Spirit, we do not find a clear explanation of what that baptism means. Nor do we know whether there were other works of the Spirit that were happening at the same time.

The clearest explanation of the baptism appears in one Corinthians 12:13. Paul is dealing with a situation where the Corinthian church was splitting into factions over the issue of spiritual gifts. Overemphasis on certain spectacular gifts had led to the attitude that some people had the most desirable gifts, while others were deficient.

In response, Paul exclaims, "We're all one! Don't divide up into cliques!" And to prove his point, he explains, "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:13).

Great Christians down through the years have often experienced dramatic encounters with God after salvation. There is no reason to deny that this is a genuine way that God works with His people. It is also true that equally devout, effective Christians have gone through life without such a "second work" of grace.

We may use whatever words we want to describe our experiences with God. The important thing is to allow God to fully immersed and permeated and smeared you all over with the Gods Holy presence.
